Trump Gets Big Endorsement From Nearly 90 Top Military Figures

Sep 6, 2016

88 retired military figures, including highly decorated generals and admirals, on Tuesday endorsed Donald Trump in an open letter.

“The 2016 election affords the American people an urgently needed opportunity to make a long overdue course correction in our national security posture and policy,” the letter states.

“As retired senior leaders of America’s military, we believe that such a change can only be made by someone who has not been deeply involved with, and substantially responsible for, the hollowing out of our military and the burgeoning threats facing our country around the world,” the generals and admirals write. “For this reason, we support Donald Trump’s candidacy to be our next commander in chief.”

On "Fox and Friends" this morning, U.S. Army Brigadier General Remo Butler (Ret.) said that he was proud to put his name on the letter alongside military people he regards as "warriors and leaders."

"I believe that Donald Trump will take the advice of these warriors and leaders and do what’s right for our country and support our troops no matter what the endeavor," Butler said.

"Good leaders surround themselves with good people, because nobody is that smart. Everyone needs advice," he added. 'From what I’ve seen so far, Donald Trump understands that he needs advice and he has reached out ... he has actively reached out to get the right people, militarily, around him to give him good, solid advice.”
